This was a proper authentic German Restaurant. If your going to or coming from Ashville, you simply must make a stop into Black Mountain for this one! The sausage is out of this world! I had the liver pate appetizer and it bought back so many child hood memories! The service was relaxed and made you feel like your a part of the family. Parking is super easy!

We had a delicious Wienerschnitzel with red cabbage, cucumber salad, and German potato salad. The beer selection was very good, and the apple strudel and coconut cake were very tasty.

We stayed in Black Mountain for a few days and really wanted to try this restaurant! Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Food was decent, good variety. The interior looks like a very old german restaurant which reminded me a lot of our old restaurants in Germany.

Staff was great and atmosphere also nice considering we came in on a Friday evening. The food was okay and the portions were quite generous. I wasn’t a fan of the German potato salad it just tasted weird and I was really looking forward to it because it’s a dish my German mom makes all the time. I took three bites thinking perhaps I just needed to try again and realized something was just not right with the salad. Hard to explain but even my 16 year old said it tasted weird. Will probably come back with just the hubby and try the other dishes and be able to give a better review in regards to their food. Sweet little place in Black Mountain!

First time trying a variety of German foods, loved the bratwursts and red cabbage. I recommend the lemon berry with cheese cake.

What a gem of a restaurant to have found in Black Mountain! The authentic German & Bavarian style food was EXACTLY what my wife and I were searching for on this trip. The Schnitzel, Smoked Bratwurst, Saurkraut, Fried Potatoes, German Potato Salad, and Spätzle were all to die for. This food transported us right back into our trip to Europe, eating food just like this throughout Germany & Austria. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!We took an Apple Strudel to go because the food was so filling, but their dessert options were so enticing. Please visit this cozy, tasty place during your next visit to the area.

It was our first time trying this German restaurant and it was so good! The schnitzel was very tender and flavorful. The potato pancakes were bomb. Not to mention the hugee slice of German chocolate cake for dessert. Very sweet and yummy. 10/10 would recommend.

Like coming home. As a kid, I always looked forward to visiting Oma and Opa each summer in Kircheim. Nothing tasted as good as eating my Oma’s delicious Linzer Torte, or Opa’s spaetzle, schnitzel and mushroom gravy. The reviews said Berliner Kindl was authentic and I couldn’t agree more. Both of our meals were beyond delicious. The atmosphere was authentic and our wait staff was attentive and ensured our food came out quickly and hot. We also ordered the Black Forest cake that was moist with a healthy portion of chocolate and cherries. For those Schwabs out there, order the potatoes instead of the potato said, which is made with bacon. Obviously a regional preference. Nevertheless, this will be my go to spot for a taste of home when we are staying in Morganton and Lake James area.

The best German food I’ve had in the US. I’ve been to many different German restaurants trying to get the same taste that I remember while being in Germany 🇩🇪 while in the Army. This place is amazing with authentic flavors. The schnitzel and potato salad is addicting. My 9yr old is picky yet she loved her Reuben. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This is a must try!!

I loved this place! My schnitzel, spatzel, and potatoes were delicious, and the sausage and Reuben my family ordered also tasted amazing. All the sides compliment the dishes perfectly. We had a nice server who quickly came over and got a lager for us when we asked (we were halfway through our meal, not just ordering drinks). The atmosphere is wonderful. It reminds me of my German grandparents’ old home, with many similar furnishings, and was very calm and nice. We’re still waiting to try the slice of cheesecake we took out, but we suspect it will be delicious.

We had a good experience here. My Rham Schnitzel and my wife’s Lemon Schnitzel were both good, but I would not call them great. The schnitzel was a little smaller and thinner than expected. The photo shows my hand to show comparable size. I’ve had better schnitzel elsewhere, but if you are in Black Mountain, it is certainly worth the visit. The beer selections were adequate. The people were nice.
