Pale Lagers

German pale lager, or Helles, is a traditional beer from southern Germany that’s pale to golden in color, low in bitterness, and has a light hop profile. The word Helles translates to “bright”, “light”, or “pale” in German. Helles is full-bodied, clear, and has a mildly sweet flavor. It’s produced primarily in Munich, and is popular in the regions of Bavaria, Franconia, and Baden-Württemberg.

 Weihenstephaner Original (on Tap) is the oldest Brewery in the world. It’s delicate aromatic notes are not only perceptible in the aroma but also in the flavor. Mild and drinkable with a light, fine, rounded hop flavor on the palate, this helles is a golden straw color and represents the best of Old Bavaria’s native beverage of choice.

Hofbrau Original
Hofbrau Original

Hofbrau Original is a Munich Helles Lager beer with a golden color, white foam, and a slightly malty taste. It has an alcohol content of 5.1%, 24 IBU, and is brewed using Herkules, Perle, Magnum, and Select hops, and light barley malt and Munich malt. Hofbräu Original has a fine hoppy aroma.

Spaten Lager

 Spaten Premium Lager is a German helles lager with a 5.2% ABV and 21 IBU. It’s a Dortmunder-Helles style beer with a medium color and a well-balanced hop flavor. It has tasting notes of bitter, grainy, and bready. Some recommend pairing it with cured meats or oily, meaty fish.

 Ayinger Jahrhundert Bier is a pale lager beer from Ayinger Brewery in Germany. It has an ABV of 4.0% and is described as light, dry, and spicy with subtle malt. The beer has a golden-yellow color, a medium body, and a long finish with dry hop tones.

Pilsners

German pilsner, also known as “pils”, is a pale lager beer with a light body, golden color, and bitter taste. It’s brewed from barley malt, German hops, and German lager yeast, and has a creamy white head. German pilsner is bottom-fermented, and has medium to high carbonation, and a dry to medium-dry finish. It’s known for its excellent head retention, and floral hop aroma.

Pilsner Urquel
Pilsner Urquell (Czech Republick)

Pilsner Urquell has a 4.4% ABV, and is known for its creamy white head, golden color, and smooth sweetness. It has a delicate malt backbone, with a pronounced hop bitterness, and floral, herbal, and spicy hop aromas. The beer also has soft malt sweetness balanced by Saaz hops, and a trace of soft bitterness on the finish.

Dunkel

German Dunkel is a dark lager beer with a rich malty flavor. It’s brewed using Munich malt, which gives it its characteristic dark color and toasty notes. Dunkel beers are typically lower in alcohol content than other German beers, such as Pilsners, and have a smooth, easy-drinking flavor profile.

Hofbräu Dunkel has been brewed since 1589 and is one of three signature beers at the Hofbräuhaus. It has a dark copper brown color, and flavors of spices, dried fruits, toasted caramel, dark cocoa, earthy hops, and malty sweet finish.

Kostritzer

Köstritzer Schwarzbier is a 4–6% alcohol lager that has a rich, smooth roasted malt flavor with notes of burnt malts, caramel, and dark fruits. The beer gets its dark color from the use of dark malts or roast malt extract in brewing. 

Doppelbock

German Doppelbock beer is a rich and flavorful lager with a strong malt character. It is a darker style of bock beer, brewed with Munich or Vienna malts that give it a deep copper to dark brown color. Doppelbocks are typically higher in alcohol content than other bock beers, ranging from 6.5% to 9% ABV.

Weissbiers

German Weissbiers, also known as Weizenbier (wheat beer), are a refreshing and flavorful type of German beer brewed with a high percentage of wheat malt. They are known for their cloudy appearance, distinct banana and clove aromas, and a light, effervescent body.

Tucher RotBeir

Tucher Rotbier is a German Franconian Rotbier with 5.2% ABV. It has a thick, reddish-beige head, a turbid, rust-red appearance, and some lacing. The aroma is of bold, tannic malts. It’s dry and hoppy off the bat with enough malt to keep it from being overly bitter. The lingering finish is very dry and slightly bitter. It’s malty and on the sweetish side but balanced by a firm bitterness that’s enough to keep it from becoming cloying.

Clausthaler Non-Alchohalic

Clausthaler is a non-alcoholic beer brand from Radeberger Brewery Gruppe that was invented in the 1970s. Clausthaler beers are brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516 and are considered to be crisp and full-flavored.
